Standard Boarding Services

  • The Boarding Rates provided below are for up to 3 bonded rabbits, being housed together in one run. If you require more than 1 run, you will be charged the rates shown below for each run that is needed.

    • $20.00 per day, for any bookings that are less than 7 consecutive days

    • $18.00 per day, for any bookings that are for 7 consecutive days or more

    • $20.00 Single Day Rate, for any bookings that are less that 24hrs

*Rates may be subject to change for rabbits that require specialized care and/or syringe feedings. Specialized care rates will be determined on a case by case basis, and based on their specific needs. We do not charge additional fees for medication administration.

All pick up and drop off appointments will be scheduled to occur between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Pick up and drop off appointments can be scheduled outside of these hours if there are special circumstances or an emergent need, however additional charges will apply.

The day of arrival (first day) and the day of pick up (last day) for boarding stays are billed out as half days, as long as the drop off and pick-up times occur between our regular office hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Early drop off and late pick appointments will result in the full day rate being charged.

The day of arrival and the day of pick up will be combined, and together will be considered to be 1 day of boarding when determining the length of your rabbit’s stay, and the daily rate that the client will be charged.

A deposit of 50% of the total amount you will be billed for the services that you have projected and requested is required in order to hold your boarding placement in the schedule.

    • An additional fee of $5.00 per day will be charged for any rabbits that are prone to spraying urine, due to the additional time that is spent on the daily cleaning tasks that become necessary with these rabbits, including daily washing of walls and other items in the enclosure.

    • If your rabbits require more than one litter box in the enclosure, an additional fee of $1.50 per day will be charged.

    • Clients are responsible for ensuring they bring enough hay for their rabbits to last the length of their stay.  If your rabbit(s) run out of hay during their stay, we will supply your rabbit with Oxbow brand Timothy Hay and you will be billed $2.50 per day for each rabbit for the provision of hay.

    • Clients are responsible for ensuring they bring enough feed/pellets for their rabbits to last the length of their stay.  If your rabbit(s) run out of pellets during their stay, we will supply your rabbits with “Oxbow Essentials Adult Rabbit Food”, and you will be charged the amount of $1.25 per 1/8 cup (2 tbsp), for each day we are providing pellets.

    •  If for any reason travel is required for your rabbit(s) needs, you will be charged .68 per kilometer driven.

    •  If for any reason your rabbit requires syringe feedings during their stay, you will be charged an additional $18 per day for each day that syringe feedings are necessary, plus the cost of any supplies purchased or used, such as feeding formula and syringes.

    • Sometimes rabbits have special needs that will need to be addressed during their stay. If your rabbit has any special needs or requirements, please discuss this with us in advance, so we can let you know how this will affect the daily rate that you will be charged.

  • Each of our “bunny runs” are 4’ x 8’ in size, which allows your rabbit(s) plenty of room to eat, sleep and play during their stay with us.

Each run is equipped with anti-skid, machine washable fleece mats for their comfort.

Each run is equipped with a small hutch, to provide your rabbits(s) with a cozy hiding place to retreat to, whenever they feel the need. The “Hutch” doors remain open at all times, unless their run is being cleaned. During cleaning, we may choose to close the door of their hutch, to help keep them out of the area while cleaning takes place, and to also provide them some comfort during the process.

There are 6 separate rabbit runs in the boarding facility, which are divided by solid, 4’ high, chew proof vinyl walls. Rabbits from different households will not have any direct contact with one another, and your rabbits will not have any contact with our own pets.

Each run is provided with its own storage space for keeping all of your rabbit’s supplies (please see our "What to Bring" document for a list of the items you will need to bring along).

  • All runs are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between rabbits. Runs are spot cleaned as necessary, and deep cleaned every Wednesday. We use a veterinarian recommended disinfectant that has been deemed safe for use around rabbits, which we purchase directly from our vet clinic.

Unless otherwise needed, guests are fed their meals (pellets and veggies, if applicable) twice a day, with breakfast occurring between 6:00 and 6:30 am, and dinner occurring between 6:00 and 6:30 pm. We ensure they have an ample amount of hay at all times and, unless otherwise needed, hay is freshened up twice a day (morning and bedtime).

Urine and feces are scooped from Litter pans daily, which allows us to closely monitor your rabbits “output” on a regular basis, as this helps us to determine if your rabbit is not feeling well or is feeling stressed.

We will provide your bunnies with a fear free/stress free experience, to the best of our ability. We provide your buns with a relaxed, calm and quiet environment that they can feel comfortable and secure in.

Since Aly is able to work for our other business from home, your rabbits will receive ongoing care throughout the day.

Your rabbits will receive daily attention and affection during their stay. We pay very close attention to your rabbit’s subtle signs and signals, and, if they are communicating to us that they do not want interaction, we will respect their need for space.

Clients are more than welcome to set up an appointment with us to come out and view the space, prior to booking their rabbits stay.

  • To book your rabbit or rabbits in for boarding services, you will first need to complete the “Boarding Application" form. If you would like to have the application form sent to you, please complete the Contact Us form on our website.

After we have received and reviewed your application, we will contact you with any questions we may have, and to let you know if we are able to accommodate boarding your rabbit(s) for the time period that you’ve requested.

Following this, we will send you any additional forms that we will require, as well as an invoice for the deposit amount owed, based on the total number of days that were projected and requested.

Once boarding availability for the time period you have requested has been confirmed and we have sent you your invoice, you will need to forward your deposit by e-transfer within 24 hrs, in order to confirm and reserve your placement in the schedule. Your drop off and pick up appointments will be scheduled with you at this time as well.

If your deposit amount due has not been not received within 24 hrs, your placement in the schedule will not continue to be held for you, and the dates you have requested will be considered available, and may be offered to the next client who is requesting boarding services for any of the dates you have requested.

  • Notice of cancellations need to be provided either by e-mail to hoppersnfloppers@gmail.com, or by phone by calling 780-288-8231.

In order to receive a full refund on the amount that was paid, Clients must provide a minimum of 72 hrs notice of their cancellation. If less than 72 hrs notice is provided, deposits will not be refunded.

  • At this time, RHDV (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus) vaccination is not mandatory for our clients, however, I do recommend that rabbits be up to date on their RHDV vaccination before they are boarded. If you’re rabbit(s) are not vaccinated already, we encourage you to discuss vaccination with your veterinarian.

There are only a few veterinarians in Edmonton that offer the RHDV vaccine on a regular basis. If your current veterinarian does not offer this vaccine, but you would like to have your rabbit vaccinated, please feel free to contact us and we can provide you with the information for a couple of clinics that do offer it.

*Please be aware that our current policy on RHDV vaccination could change at any time, and, if we begin to see cases of RHDV pop up in the Edmonton area, or in the surrounding communities, vaccinations may become mandatory for all clients at that time.

It is expected that all rabbits being boarded are delivered in good health, free of any parasites, contagious illnesses and/or transmittable diseases. It is also expected that all rabbits have been seen by a veterinarian prior to being boarded, for any health concerns that you have become aware of.  Rabbits who appear to be unwell and/or who do not appear to be in good health upon their arrival, will not be accepted for boarding at your drop off appointment, and you will be asked to take your rabbit to see a veterinarian prior to re-scheduling an alternative drop off appointment.

  • The health and well being of our guests is of the utmost importance to us. Medical conditions can sometimes arise and/or worsen unexpectedly, due to the stress associated with boarding.  We closely monitor all of our guests while they are in our care for any signs of discomfort, illness and/or inappetence.

To ensure we are able to get your rabbit(s) in for a vet visit without delay if they become ill or injured during the boarding period, we require that all clients complete and sign our “Consent to Medical Care” form, pre-authorizing Little Hoppers n’ Floppers to obtain veterinary care, diagnostics and/or treatment for your rabbit(s) of up to $250.00 in your absence.

If you’re rabbit begins to show any signs of discomfort, illness, inappetence, or if they suffer an injury during their stay, your rabbit will be booked in to see a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Little Hoppers n’ Floppers reserves the right to determine the need for your rabbit to visit a veterinarian during the boarding period, and reserves the right to book a health exam for your rabbit, at the owner’s expense.  You will be notified by email, text, or phone of the reason for your rabbit’s vet visit, and the date and time of the visit.

All clients must complete the “Consent for Medical Care” form prior to their rabbits stay.  A copy of this form will be emailed to you along with your invoice, and upon confirmation of your reservation.

All clients will need to provide us with their credit card information as part of this authorization, and, in the event that a vet visit is required during your rabbit’s stay, the veterinary clinic will be asked to charge your card directly for any veterinary care that was provided.

Post Surgical Care Services

  • Most rabbits will require extra care and attention while recovering from a surgical or a dental procedure, which includes monitoring of their condition, administering medications and regular syringe feedings. Very few rabbits will begin eating on their own shortly after a surgical or dental procedure.

This is also a critical time to ensure they are eating sufficiently and that their gut continues to move, to prevent them from going into GI Stasis, which is life threatening for your rabbit.

Our Post Surgical Care Services are designed to meet the needs of clients who cannot stay at home all day with their rabbit, providing it with the level of care it needs or for those who may be struggling with syringe feeding their rabbit.

Clients can bring their rabbit to the facility for boarding during their recovery, where we will provide post surgical care for them, until your rabbit is back to his/her normal self and eating on their own (usually 3-5 days post surgery, depending on the rabbit and the medical situation).

When providing these services in our boarding facility, your rabbit will be monitored and observed throughout the day and syringe feedings will occur approximately 4 hrs apart, until your rabbit is back to behaving normally and eating on their own.

Hopefully your vet has provided you with a bag of Critical Care or EmerAid, however, if you do not have any at home, we always keep a few new bags on hand, and we are happy to provide a new bag and a syringe for the cost of the supplies.

Please note that we encourage you to bring your rabbit’s bonded partner along (if applicable) if you are using these services. Rabbits can become very stressed without their partner, and this is something we all want to avoid. There is no added charge for you to bring their bonded partner along. You are also encouraged to bring along their litter tray, as well as a favorite toy and/or blanket for their comfort

    • Full Day Rate (24 hrs) = $38.00

    • Half Day Rate (12 hrs or less) = $28.00

    • Bag of Emergency Recovery Food = $35.00

    • 35 Millilitre Syringe = $2.75

Please note that the full and half day rates shown above reflect the high level of attention and care that recovering rabbits require, as well as the fact that they will require several syringe feeding sessions per day, each of which can take between 30 min to 45 min.

There is no additional charge for medication administration.

The day of arrival (first day) and the day of pick up (last day) for boarding stays are billed out as half days, as long as the drop off and pick-up times occur between our regular office hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Please note that Post Surgical Care Services will only be booked when the boarding schedule allows, and will not be scheduled during peak boarding periods. This is to ensure that we have the time available to focus on your rabbit's post surgical care needs.

Support Services

  • The thought of having to syringe feed your rabbit following a surgical procedure or during an illness can be a bit scary for rabbit parents who have never had to do this with their rabbits before. If your rabbit is scheduled to undergo a surgical procedure, or if you would like to prepare yourself for the possibility that you may have to syringe feed your rabbit due to illness in the future, and you would like to increase your confidence in your ability to do so, we offer supportive one-on-one syringe feeding coaching to our clients.

These coaching sessions will take place at our home, and you will be asked to bring your rabbit along with you for this session. During the session, and with the help of your own rabbit for demonstration purposes, we will show you how you can accomplish syringe feedings and medication administration with them. We will also provide you with some helpful tips and tricks that we have learned along the way.

We will also discuss first aid kits and some of the very important and helpful items that bunny parents should keep at home, in case of an emergency.

  • If your rabbit is undergoing a surgical procedure, it is ideal if you book your session with us prior to your rabbit’s surgery taking place, so that you can make all of your preparations in advance.

To request a one-on-one syringe feeding coaching session, please contact us by email or phone and we will arrange a time with you. You do not need to fill out the boarding application form to book one of these sessions.

  • $25.00 per session, per person

Married or common law couples are welcome to attend sessions together for no additional charge.

Sessions can be anywhere from 1-2 hours in duration, depending on your personal needs.
